MAAC's DATABASE GOALS

Global & Comprehensive. We aim to provide a database for producers, directors, casting directors, as well as networks and studio executives to discover and hire MENA-SA talent globally. More often than not, our communities are needed for specific projects, but our talent pool has remained mainly undiscovered and underrepresented. A comprehensive directory for all MENA-SA creatives throughout the entertainment industry, above and below the line, to give our talent exposure and access where they have been historically excluded.

Global and Comprehensive

We aim to provide a database for producers, directors, casting directors as well as networks and studio executives to discover and hire MENASA talent globally. More often than not, our communities are needed for specific projects, but our talent pool is often not given the chance, we remain undiscovered and underrepresented We are building one place for all MENA-SA creatives throughout the entertainment industry, above and below the line, to give our community the exposure to executives and producers that we normally have been excluded from.

Removing Obstacles and Gatekeeping

MENA Talent have always fought to overcome dangerous stereotypes, we are here to say that we are more than the terrorist, and the multitude of outdated tropes we play over and over again. We are committed to not only advancing MENA talent throughout all disciplines of entertainment, but also to changing the conversation around the narratives we are a part of.

Increasing Our Visibility

The MENA diaspora and region are excluded in conversations around diversity, inclusion, and equity within the entertainment industry. We are the only group that is asked to identify religously to be included in DEI work. By joining this platform and including MENA-SA Talent in your production, above and below the line you are making a firm stand in fighting for systemic change and redefining how we look at inclusion.

I am grateful to Azita Ghanizada and the Mena Arts Advocacy Coalition for the work that they are doing in shining a light on the bias that exists toward Middle Eastern creatives both in front of AND behind the camera. I look forward to being part of the solution.

It is our goal to provide our community with more direct ways to be seen and considered for work across all disciplines of the industry. And to continue to remind the industry that MENASA creatives, talent and crew should not be forgotten in the conversations around diversity, equity and inclusion.
