Technical FAQ's

1) What size does my profile image need to be for it to be displayed optimally?

The image should be a 1:1 aspect ratio with a maximum resolution of 300×300 pixels. 

If you are having trouble uploading a photo, we suggest going to https://imageresizer.com/, or another method to reduce to your photo file to 100MB.  
10 out of 10 times it’s that your photo is not in the proper dimensions, or too large.   

2) Why does a frame overlay appear on my profile image when I first upload the image?

On the MAAC DATABASE:
Once you’ve uploaded your profile image for initial display, you will then be able to adjust and crop it as desired.

3) Why does a warning message appear on my Profile Page when I first create a new talent profile?

  • On the MACC DATABASE: When you initially create your account, you will see a warning message appear on your Profile Page. This message appears because the required profile fields were blocked at first, and so you haven’t yet added this required information. You will need to edit the page and add the following info to have said warning message removed:
  • Name
  • Profession title
  • Country of origin
  • Skills
  • Bio

4) How can I upload my Acting Reel/Video from different platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion?

First, go to your Profile Page > scroll down the page until you see the Video URL Field. Next, paste the url of the video from the desired platform (YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion) and then click the submit button. You’ll then see a message indicating that the upload was successful, which will appear at the top of your Profile Page.

HOW DO I JOIN?

To be added to the MAAC database, you must have a professional resume, have worked in the entertainment industry, or other creative fields, or have attended school, or are actively in school focusing on the Arts/Film. We prefer you have a verifiable credit on projects including animation, film, television, commercial, industrial, gaming, music video or web, but are aware that our community has largely been left out of these professions. UNTIL NOW, which is why we do not have a credit requirement to join our talent database. When you register with our database, it is your responsibility to create a profile page and complete all the required fields so you are easily searchable in the system.. Leave no box empty. You will also have the option to upload a resume with credits and links to your website, or reel.

DO I HAVE TO BE PART OF A UNION OR GUILD?

While it will be easier to be hired if you are SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, or IATSE, or even eligible to join one of the above guilds. We are aware that many MENASA talent and crew in the business are fighting gatekeepers and trying to break in. Thankfully, because our authentic voices are so very underrepresented, casting and producers may be willing to find ways to incorporate your talents into their productions or companies. It is helpful that you have a credit, or experience working in your field, union or non-union.

IS THERE A FEE FOR TALENT TO JOIN?

No. Our platform is 100% free for our underserved community members.

ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO JOIN?

Students are encouraged to join with a professional resume and previous training in their field.

IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT?

Not for actors, in fact we encourage the parent or legal guardian of all actors of all ages to submit on the platform. Please be sure that they have professional headshots and to fill in all required fields. However, for all our fields you must be 18+ to submit to the database. How will I be notified if an employer, casting director, or production is interested in me? They will contact you directly. It’s imperative that you place how you’d like to be connected, including your agency and management information, or direct contact.

I AM MULTINATIONAL, BUT CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN.

We are adding the option to add Multinational in the dropdown of Country of Origin. If you identify as such and it's a MENASA country and a non-MENASA country, choose the MENASA country and please clarify in bio. If you are MultiNational from two or more MENASA countries, please choose Multinational and clarify in your bio your cultural makeup.

I AM A MEMBER OF MULTIPLE UNIONS, BUT CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE?

We suggest you choose the Union you work most with. However, we urge you to remember this will be used primarily for film/tv/digital platforms. So if you are part of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, we suggest choosing SAG-AFTRA and clarifying in your bio, you are also a Stage Actor and proud AEA member.

I DON'T WANT TO SHARE MY AGE RANGE

Simply don't choose an age-range in the drop down box, and age won't be shown on your profile.

CAN MY MANAGER OR AGENT CREAT AND MANAGE MY PROFILE?

Yes, however they will need access to your login information. Please only share your login and password information with people you trust to update or change your profile page.

WILL I BE ABLE TO VIEW MY PROFILE ON THE PORTAL?

Yes, we encourage you to update your photo and resume as frequently as needed.

5) How can I add my contact information details to my profile?

  • On your profile page, scroll down and add your contact details in the fields shown below. Then click submit.

6) How can I remove attributes from my Profile (ie. union affiliation, languages, location)?

  • Simply leave those fields empty and update the form by clicking submit.You will  then see a message at the top indicating that your information has been updated successfully. The optional fields you’ve elected to keep empty will be hidden from your Profile.

7) What if I don't wanna show any social icons?

  • Simply leave the Social Links fields blank. Doing so will hide said social icons from your Profile.

8) if I am Bi-racial or want to add multiple countries, how can I manage this?

  • You can specify additional countries/regions in your Bio section.
  • Simply add the appropriate details to the info details section on your Profile.

9) If I am a hiring manager, how should I use the keyword field in the profile filters?

  • The keyword field you search will pull that particular keyword from all profiles (including Bio sections, names, skills and all other attributes), providing you with a vast scope of keywords from which you can search from (ie. Film, Theatre, Series, Hollywood, HBO). You can also search by studio name, production house, as well as any region.
